Hello. Studying about green engineering and sustainable living and brought me here. But I’m still confused about what permaculture involves and what it doesn’t. I guess I’m better at understanding industrial equipment than these kinds of stuff. But I’m excited! I’m sure there are lots of references I could read to learn more, starting with the permaculture principles I just learned about today.

Anyways, I guess I just wanna know if somebody else here just stumbled upon permaculture one day and then suddenly got so curious about it? ‘Cause that’s me.

A question: I've spotted a fruit tree on side of my street: it's still pretty small, about three (3) yards/meters tall, its leaves resemble sour cherry, only these are smaller, elongated and dark green. It has enormous amount of fruits which are blueberry-size, only very-dark-red, inside are resembling the apple color, its taste is pretty sour and there are only two seeds in each fruit; the seeds resemble the grain of wheat, only they are stone-hard. All of this is on the street of the Chicago, Illinois, USA. It sustains pretty hard weather: during last wintertime there was several days really cold, minus twenty five (-25) degrees Celsius, or minus thirteen Fahrenheit. What is this tree and this fruit?
