Temperate, always cloudy, lots of rain (& slugs)
We're thinking of raising about 5-7 female quail for a family of three, we have a small garden in a built up residential complex so chickens are definitely out of question due to noise etc.
Main reason is to have our own food source that we control ie: knowing it did not come from a possibly GMO fed animal, secondly to save some money if possible, then thirdly to be self sufficient.
I will build a mini coop on four legs off the ground and with a run underneath, I've already been advised not to worry too much about temperatures here in the UK as apparently they will be okay in winter outside.

Will I be spending a lot more than what I do currently buying free range eggs from the shops? we use perhaps 6 eggs a week in normal use and it goes up when baking / cooking recipes that use more eggs (which is not too often in both cases)
