How can I know if institutions running this sort of couses are reliable? Which ones would you recommend me? I have an Agriculture 5 years degree and want to get insight Permaculture developing my career in. Thanks for your help
Hi Mauricio and welcome, How long will you be in Australia? You can't go wrong with the PDC courses listed on this page: https://permaculturenews.org/courses/ especially Oct 17-28 at the PRI Australia.
Thanks gAnda1f, I'm not sure yet how long I'll stay in aus, but my deadline is may 30, 2017. Also, I saw the oct 17-28 and junuary 02-13 PDC and I'm wonder about what is the focus of each teacher and what would be the differences between this courses? And other until my deadline?
The focus of PDC instructors is to illustrate each chapter of the Design Manual with real-world applications and promote discussion of the concepts within the group. The Design Manual is the basis (i.e.textbook) for the course in much the same way as the textbook for a university course. It would follow that the best PDC instructors have extensive experiences in Permaculture design in multiple environments with multiple techniques within the overarching Permaculture concepts. But ... this does not negate the ability of an individual instructor to provide engaging and coherent content, so without attending each and every potential course, it would be very difficult to rate for aspiring students. Towards this end, the PRI has an accredited instructors list (here is the application for instructor accreditation: https://permaculturenews.org/shop/uncategorized/pri-teacher-application-review/ and this is the renewal form https://permaculturenews.org/shop/uncategorized/pri-new-teacher-and-pri-teacher-renewal/) Note this paragraph in the latter: "Potential students will now have the opportunity to search for your profile as a teacher via our Worldwide Permaculture Network’s(WPN) member database, with a simple to use filter. Results will be displayed according to the time of last update: the more active and engaged you are, and the more conscientious about keeping your profile up to date, the higher your profile will appear in the results." To search for accredited instructors, check out the Permaculture Global website, click on "People", and filter your search by "type" (i.e. PRI Teacher): https://permacultureglobal.org/users Hope this helps.
