I have recently inherited a home on an acre of land in Ridgecrest, Ca. I am very interested in establishing a food forest/permaculture environment on this land. This is all new to me so I'll be asking loads of questions. I do however have lots of experience in conventional gardening on the east coast, which is where I'm from. I've always enjoyed the act of gardening and I've naturally been attracted to organic gardening. Anyways, I look for forward to learning lots.
hello and welcome, i hope it all goes well. i love gardening too. i don't care where as long as i can get my hands (and feet too it seems ) in the dirt... for any arid climate the use of a mulches and wind breaks help so much. i'm not in an arid climate so i've not had to deal with many of the issues you're likely to be facing, but having watched how Geoff's Greening the Dessert the Sequel site has been going over the years i can see that it really is possible to do a lot even in some of the worst areas of the planet. just have to apply some love and smarts.
Hi Pat and congratulations on your property. Feel free to ask many questions ... lots of experience here with dry sites.
