Hello, olá! my name is Xana, 26 years old and currently living in the village where I want to start my permaculture project! I'm progressing (very) slowly on some land and learning the basics of permaculture (self -taught)! ;)

Good luck with all your projects!

    tudo de bom!

Thank you :) Started planting some fruit trees. Next step is to spread seeds to help avoid erosion and increase insect biodiversity this spring and years to come. Next come the bees, water retention, solar energy and river bank maintenance (problems with erosion here). Tons of work, but quite exciting.

    How's your project coming along?

    Cheers!

Are you considering planting support species for your fruit trees such as nitrogen fixing trees/shrubs? Our go-to species are black locust, Siberian pea shrub, and lucerne (alfalfa). Lucerne might also be a consideration for your erosion prone areas as they have extensive root systems and are quite drought tolerant (in addition to fixing nitrogen).

As for me, we're getting back on track after a miserable winter of flu (extensive this year in the states). This year's projects include additional water catchment, extending our tree nursery, completing the earth-sheltered greenhouse, and build-out of the shop area.

    Hi,

Yes I am spreading, this weekend actually, nitrogen fixing seeds. there are already a few nitrogen fixing shrubs nearby, indigenous to the area. :)

Sounds like you have a lot of work going on, as well. Sad to hear that this winter things did not go so well. Good luck with everything and hope you manage to complete all the tasks set out!

    Cheers!

    Welcome Dana!
I am self taught too. Hopefully I can earn my certification soon. I am so greatful to Geoff Lawton and others who have and are sharing so much.
Observevation has been key in my growth. The earth is always teaching me. Elaine Ingham PhD has amazing info on soil erosion. Here is a link to a video of her,

    Thank you for sharing,
    Grace
