About Phayao Permaculture Center

The Phayao Permaculture Center is a 2-acre permaculture farm, demonstration and education center in Pa Daeng, Phayao, Northern Thailand, dedicated to the application of Permaculture ethics and principles.

Accommodation:

During the course, participants will stay at a nearby local Thai Home-stay, 500m from Phayao Permaculture Center. Each room has 1-2 beds, a private shower and flush toilet. The cost of accommodation is included in the course cost. Wi-fi is available at the homestay, 500 meters from the Phayao Permaculture Center.

Meet our facilitators:

The course will be facilitated by permaculturists John Champagne (lead teacher), Bruce Bebe, Brian Newhouse and Ben Dunn:

John Champagne is one of Australia’s foremost Permaculture teachers. Actively involved in the movement for over 20 years, John has experience in property design and implementation; eco-village design and works locally as a consultant. He is a bioregional strategist holding the position of President of SCPA – South East Producers for 12 years that is an NGO preparing his community to become more self-reliant. John’s teaching career has taken him all over Australia and in recent years to SE Asia where he has taught PDC’s and workshops in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia.

Brian Newhouse is the founder of Permaville and author of The Permaville Book. Since 2003, he has worked on projects in the fields of education, sanitation, water, construction and renewable energy across eight countries. He has taught high school as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Cape Verde Islands, Africa. He has rebuilt schools with All Hands Volunteers in Haiti, and he’s led water installations and natural building projects at Panya, a permaculture community in northern Thailand and co-started the Art of Living Permaculture site in Bangalore, India.

Ben Dunn is a trained Mechanical Engineer from Australia. He completed a Permaculture Design Course at the Panya Project in Thailand in 2013. He then became a long term member at the Panya Project and gained much experience in all aspects of Permaculture with a specific focus towards Natural Building. His focus now is towards Plant Propagation and Nursery Management. He is interested in learning more about all aspects of permaculture and sharing his knowledge and experience with anyone willing to learn.

Bruce Bebe is a graduate of more than a half dozen PC design, eco-village and teachers training courses. He attended the first Permaculture Design Course in the USA in 1982. He is an architect and a philosopher. Bruce is the founder of Phayao Permaculture Center in Phayao, Thailand.
