https://www.landscapeexpo.com.au/new-insecticide-saves-time-and-money/ OMG - this is lunacy. Is the tablet safe for bees? Will it kill the grubs that turn into butterfiles? Is it harmful to benificial wasps and insects? Will it distrpt the food chain by ridding the food for others?
MEDIA RELEASE Yates Product of the Month September 2011 Yates Confidor Tablets Yates new Confidor Tablets are the easiest way to prevent sap-sucking pests such as aphids, scales, mealybugs, azalea lace bug, pimple psyllids and others from damaging and disfiguring ornamental plants. Each tablet contains Confidor systemic insecticide blended with soluble plant nutrients that will give the plant a growth boost. Controlling pests with Confidor Tablets is a simple matter of putting your plant on the pill. There’s no need to mix, measure and spray. The tablets – one per metre of plant height – are placed under the roots at planting time or pushed down into the soil around existing plants. The Confidor then dissolves out of the tablets and is taken up by the plant’s roots before moving into its sap/ water circulation system. Here it can only affect the pests that actually attack the plant. This protective effect can last for months. Confidor Tablets are particularly useful in situations where it’s difficult to spray, such as indoors, in courtyards, near buildings or where children play. They will also give new plants a trouble-free start and have been used extensively for this purpose in forestry plantings. One tablet application continues providing protection for a long period and, with each tablet treating one metre of plant height, the tablets are economical to use. Each blister pack holds eight tablets. Yates Confidor Tablets are available within the next two weeks For more information contact Judy Horton (02) 97949481 [email protected] www.yates.com.au
But they have plant nutrients in them. What could possibly go wrong?! I think I'm most worried by the fact that it stays there for months. How much data do they have on human consumption of affected fruit? I'll wager none.
Thanks Permasculptor. I just can not believe that something like this would even be considered in this day and age. Are we really that set on mass self destruction?
I just read all the post on confidor...scary stuff. Why does this type of info get so little exposure here. the media can comment daily on kate and william and other celebrities, but something that could devastate our bee colonies...nah...no one would be interested.
