I am a student at McGill University, majoring in political science, international development and environment studies.

I am part of a social entrepreneurship class and we have to hand in a final project at the end of the semester. Our project is based on permaculture and bringing permaculture as a solution to children malnutrition and educational success in the Philippines.

However, as we know little about permaculture still, even though we are taking classes already, we wanted to ask you a few questions that we thought would be best answered from you.

    - What is the expect yield for a hectare?
    - From how long permaculture allows you to make surplus that you can sell?
    - How much time per day per person is enough to commit for a space of 50m2 to be productive?
    - Consider you permaculture as an act capable of being undertook by children 11 years old supervised by teachers?
    - What budget would you associate to perform permaculture on a 50 m2 plot?

Thank you so much for your help

    Greetings Morgane and welcome!
Tough questions, I'm not aware of too many people that keep such metrics (or at least publish them on the internet).
However, the Dervaes in California have done so in an exacting manner: https://urbanhomestead.org/about/by-the-numbers/
This is valuable information and may assist your quest.
In true Permaculture fashion, we could answer each of your questions with "it depends". For instance, yield per hectare could be in a kitchen garden with a variety of vegetables or it could be in a "food forest garden" with annual vegetables planted in and amongst a multi-layered perennial design that includes chickens and rabbits (for instance).
If we stick to the kitchen garden approach, here's a couple of resources to help:

    https://permaculturenews.org/2010/10/08/how-to-build-a-permaculture-vegetable-garden/

https://permaculturenews.org/2015/05/03/permaculture-soils-geoff-lawton/ (if you can, watch the video, it's awesome!)

    https://deepgreenpermaculture.com/diy-instructions/starting-your-permaculture-garden/

These resources should get you started and give an idea of how much (or little!) work it takes to start a "Permaculture Garden" and then to maintain it.
Hope it helps. Feel free to ask further questions as you go. :)
