Dr. Vandana Shiva on Just Food
This is a good summary of what Vandana Shiva talks about lately. Even if you think you’ve heard it all before, I think this is a excellent one to watch and share.

Where can we get the text from this speech?

A beautifull speach. I hope we’ll get local, but i can’t see it happen when the people will not rise and distroy these institutions. And that can only happen with fors. Most people in the Netherlands only eat junk and they realy see it as food. I beleave that people are what they eat. So what are they?…. I teach and when the children hear that i grow my own food they laugh because they can’t understand it and even don’t want to understand it. Most people in the Netherland see people that do these kinds of thing like primitive and stupid ones that are at the bottum of civilization. But maby things will change, but it will have to happen soon, because the big systems are changing fast in the worst.
Robert Knops – I don’t believe, and I think Dr. Shiva gives examples in this talk, that it is always necessary to destroy the industrial food system before a better way comes into being. I think Permaculture is the perfect example of how we can begin to extract ourselves and our communities from the system and create small-scale, local, and diverse systems that feed people real food. If enough of this happens, then the industrial food system will find itself obsolete. Of course, they are fighting to prevent this from happening, but our strength is in nature’s and our own diversity.
