Thanks Craig, well worth the listen. Something that Naomi said in this podcast struck a note with me. It was the word ‘Uncivilisation’. This is a term which, while it has a familiar ring about it, I don’t recall giving any conscious thought to previously. So I did some research. Perhaps Naomi’s reference to the word is as a result of some prior knowledge of what I found.

I came across the following site: http://www.planetthoughts.org/?pg=pt/Whole&qid=3224 which, on the face of it, has some very interesting things to say on the predicament the current civilisation, of which we are all part, is facing. I won’t say too much about this as it may not be everyones cup of tea but I intend to investigate further since the ideas promoted are of particular interest to myself. I wonder if any other readers have background knowledge of this group calling themselves the Dark Mountain Project.

They have a written manifesto which contains the following short quote: ‘It is, it seems, our civilisation’s turn to experience the inrush of the savage and the unseen; our turn to be brought up short by contact with untamed reality. There is a fall coming. We live in an age in which familiar restraints are being kicked away, and foundations snatched from under us. …Now a familiar human story is being played out. It is the story of an empire corroding from within. It is the story of a people who believed, for a long time, that their actions did not have consequences. It is the story of how that people will cope with the crumbling of their own myth. It is our story.’
